The Columbus Gay Mens Chorus (CGMC) was founded in 1990 to foster increased recognition, understanding, and acceptance of all individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community. CGMC strives to empower, enrich, and entertain our audiences and members through performances by our three ensembles: the main chorus, VOX, and Illuminati. The first two ensembles create and performa range of innovative, provocative, and entertaining musical, theatrical, and dance presentations that enhance the arts in Central Ohio. Illuminati performs sacred choral music in services at regional churches and synagogues to demonstrate through song, that ALL people have a place in the religious community. Anyone who can sing in the TTBB range can sing in CGMC ensembles, regardless of ability, age (18+), ethnicity, gender, mobility, orientation, race, religion, or socioeconomic status. CGMC dedicates itself to performing at the highest possible standard of quality, and to maintaining a safe atmosphere of camaraderie, support, and respect for our diverse members and audiences. CGMC performs in accessible venues and provide ASL interpretation for our concert season. CGMC produces five (5) concerts per season that include some or all of our three (3) singing ensembles, monthly performances at religious services in area churches and synagogues, and various outreach and special event requests. Our vision can be summed up in four words: Voices Raised, Lives Changed. CGMC has two full-time employees, the Executive Director, in charge of business operations, and the Artistic Director, in charge of the ensembles.
